First Surface vs. Second Surface Application
At Golden Rule Signs, we understand the importance of having a sign that not only looks great, but also lasts long. That’s why we offer our clients the highest quality and most durable option for creating a sign face. While other vendors may cut corners by printing on an adhesive material and sticking it onto a plastic sign face (1st Surface Application), this method exposes the print directly to the harsh elements of the sun, wind, and air pollution. This results in a short lifespan for the sign face as the ink fades and becomes dirty.
We believe in providing our customers with a superior option that will truly stand the test of time. Our Second Surface Application involves printing on the inside of polycarbonate, which not only protects the ink from the elements but also has UV filtering properties. This means that the print and image on the sign face will remain vibrant and colorful for much longer, even when exposed to harsh outdoor conditions. Can I Break it?
One of the ways in which we try to “Do the right thing!” is to provide our customers with a specific material that they likely do not know to ask for, but definitely want; UV resistant polycarbonate material. This material is virtually indestructible and ages very well. Many local sign shops will sell you an acrylic sign face with vinyl lettering on the outside. this is the most basic way to build a sign face and it will need to be replaced in 3-5 years if it doesn’t break. We use the best materials and practices because we know how you expect your sign to perform.
